what kind of milege can I expect?

Recommended Posts

I am taking my new wr450 out in the morning for an about 130 mile loop, mostly powerline roads. I did the throttle stop, airbox and exhaust mods. With the stock tank, will I make it? Actually, I know I cant, but what is a reasonable range?

Depends on your riding style, weight, and the terrain. When I trail ride (not race) desert I consistently get about 35 mpg. But I'll also point out that I only weigh 165 and tend to short shift. If you are heavy or ride aggressively, expect to get somewhere less than 30. Do a search to get more data points - this topic comes up all the time.

I got 121km on my 06 taking it easy on a bad dirt road driving about 60-90 km/h average and that's exactly 8 litres, had 1 litre reserve left over to get home on. On some more agressive riding (slower and harder) i got 84 km on the same tank

My guess is that you did a lot of pushing!
