Another post of should I get a 650?

Recommended Posts

Well my name is Josh and I am 15 and weigh about 135 right now. I am about 5 foot 9 and right now I own a 1985 CR500R that flat out rips. I will be turning 16 this August and wanted to get a plated bike. I realize that it is possible to plate my 500 but the gas and the problems and etc... its just not worth it so I was thinking of xr600/650... Now, I have ridden my buddies XR250 and whenever I ride it I just cant seem to get it to go anywhere it feels like. It seems to have no power even though bored to a 277, hot cam, etc... With him on it, he tends to work miracles... Is it jsut I am used to my 500 and it makes it seem that weak? How is the xr600/650 compared to the xr250? How about to my 500 how is it compared to that? Thanks for all the help.

Now my friends xr250 I would say is sorta heavy compared to my cr500 but I was wondering if the 600 or 650 weigh a lot more than the xr250s? I also heard after crashing they are a pain to start up but then again so is my 500 that already broke my friends ankle trying to start it. lol Since I have been on a 500 will it be any problem for me or is there still learning involved? Thanks for all the help...

If your used to the power of a 2 stroke CR500 , then a four stroke 600/650

wouldn't be a problem.

As for the issue of weight , the 650 is much heavier than the 250.

Heavier then the CR500 also.

Ok now let me get this straight... The only difference between the xr600r/650r and the 600l/650l is the whether its liquid cooled or air cooled and if its street legal? I tried searching but can someone clarify? Thanks...

Wrong isle. Try isle no 8, right beside the spam.

Right on Max Power! Jeez.. 1st post is spam. You can't go anywhere without someone selling their crap.

I vow never to buy traktools no matter how cool or cheap. I might buy them if they suck just so I can tell everyone I know they really suck. :applause:

first off there is no 600L, just R. the R is liquid cooled, and not street legal form the factory. In cali, it will be next to impossable to plate a R. You will not be able to plate your 500....no way....not possable. The R does put out more and it is designed more for dirt where as the L is made for a mix....

Now you see thats where I hit a problem... Everyone keeps saying that its hard to plate stuff in Cali but then I see people get it done and they are like it wasn't that hard. I also checked in to getting my 500 street legal a while back and that is also possible just like any other type of green sticker bike. Its just I wouldn't want to spend money for plating a bike that is hard to start and can barely go out of town.
