I took off the steering dampner bracket from the frame just below the handle bars and put the bolt back that runs through the frame that held the bracket in place. The person who had the bike before me installed it this way. Now I get a small oil leak out of one side. I would like to seal this better but gasket stuff doesn't seem to do the trick. Any ideas?

Try a copper sealing washer such as you find on drain plugs.
