Break-in - oil change

Hi guys,

How many oil changes during break in period on XR650L? What type of oil?

I'd say do your first oil AND filter change at 100 miles then 200 miles then follow normal intervals. Use regular DINO oil for this period. I wouldn't recommend the switch to synthetic until around 1,000 miles or so if that is your perogative.

Regular oil, non synthetic.

Must it be 4 strokes motorcycle oil, or, cars are as good?

You can use automotive oils but they're not "specifically" designed for motorcycles.

i would use 10w-40 or what ever your owners manual says just use reagular 10w-40 i usually use quaker state or penzoil but it really doesnt matter
