With the clutch in and the bike in gear,i roll on the throttle and let it come back to idle, the rpm's stay high for a few seconds than go back to normal. Any ideas?

Your idle mixture may be set too lean, you may have an air leak in the intake, or you may have tight intake valves, although this is less likely with a 450. If none of that fixes it, a dirty carb could be the problem.
