I'm replacing the fork seals on my '00 WR400. Is anybody using anything other than the Yamaha "01" fork oil? This stuff is way too expensive for my tightass budget, any recommendations will be appreciated.

Just use any 5wt fork oil. The better quality, the better it will work for longer.
I have never used yamaha 01 fork oil in any of my yamaha bikes.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic automatic transmission fluid in mine. I've been using it for years with no problems.
