Have you tried Acerbis.com to see if the part numbers for 04 and 05 are the same?
www.acerbis.com
ps try the European site if the US site doesn't help

The tanks are NOT the same. No one seems to know about a retro fit on the '04 (I spoke with acerbis USA several times)...seems like some of the desert guys would chime in here. I guess we'll find out next week.

Yo pops! I think those tanks for $700 are safari tanks mate. The Acerbis tanks are 12.9L. the Safari tanks are 15.5L ($450) and the 28L ($700).

BUY YOUR TANK FROM THE USA! YOU WILL SAVE $$$$$$$$.

Hi Matty05. I already have the the Acerbis large tank . It just does not hold enough fuel for the riding i like to do. I am trying to find a 28L safari tank in the USA for my wr450f 04 but no luck so far. Plus i am trying to get a Wiseco Hot Rods Crank or a stroker Crank while the engine is apart to fix 5 th gear. :ride:

My mate has the 28L tank, he has never used it. He might want to sell it. I haven't hit him up for it because it is too big for me. He might even do a swap?

www.sporttouringusa.com/www/aqualine_safari.html
Only place I have found in the USA.

Or you could just hit the dealers up for one cheap. They don't exactly walk out the door.

I wish we had seen this before ordering the acerbis. The price is steep but probably worth it. I like the dual petcocks. Can anyone confirm that this tank fits the pre-05 wr450?

Ordered and payed for a acerbis tank 6.6 today from the USA The company refunded the money and canceled the sale .Bugger .They said( as much as I'd like to send you this tank, I have run into a rather difficult snag. This tank is huge and I have found out that I cannot send it to you in an economical manner. The maximum length and girth is 79 inches for Express or Priority mail and the package is 106. I can send it Global Express Guaranteed mail but shipping will be more than double! Unfortunately, I will have to give you a full refund. I apologize for the issues with our postal system!)
Will have to keep looking. Cheers
