well actuly the only pipes with back pressure is disk type and stock pipes.

So you are telling me that the bend in your headpipe doesn't create backpressure, hmm...interesting, I must have been mislead all these years by my physics teacher...oh well, according to you he doesn't know squat anyway because he cares about spelling.

What constitutes a stupid idea? I would say something that will cause harm in one way or another, so maybe you just answered your own question...just a thought. If you know it is a stupid idea, why did you do it to your pocket bike? I'm really confused as to what is going through your head.

shorty mufflers are great, no packing is fine and you have it all figured out.

Do me a favor and invest in some muffler bearings and make sure they are packed....These things are great and will make you as fast as Rusty Wallace....

I found this thread somewhat confusing and disturbing....until I realized that the originator is an ATV rider. It all seems clearer now. :ride:

Here’s the perfect pipe, no need for any more of these discussions about which pipe is better or makes more power. And the best part is it doesn’t have any of that silly packing in it either.

axculy the muffler runs cooler. the more flow the cooler the pipe will be sinse the gases are excaping so fast. if you feal a stock muffler after you been driving it is so hot you cant touch it. my choped stocker stayed cool

But the real problem is acoustics. The vibrations caused by the exhaust pulses will eventually cause metal fatigue in the can, and the whole thing will fall apart.

well heres my take on it, a shorter can with more internal volume will perform better off the bottom. so my tim the tool man way of thinking started me on a mission to improve my powercore 4. first i called and talked to the fmf boys,i finally found one that would talk shop and he agreed with my theory of shortening the can 2" and removing the packing except for the 1/2" thick blanket that rests against the can. it worked great bottom snap was improved and it didn't seem to affect the top end. the sound is not obnoxious and its ran like this for over a yr, no problems. biggest challenge was the jetting, after i figured out that more flow actually requires leaner jetting i was back on track. so it is possible to improve performance by removing packing, just a little complicated

Yeah, just read any of this morons posts. First off its for a quad, not a dirtbike. Second he is more then likely doing it to piss off his neighbors. Look for his thread on "stupid neighbors calling the cops" or something like that. This kid is a real piece of work. He posted how he and his buddies intentionally rip up and down the street pissing off neighbors, and then gets pissed when they call the cops.

Mods please ban this kid from posting any thing esle in this forum. Everyone of his posts turns into him saying crap like

sut the **** up. omg who cares about spelling. i bet you all are just over weight mad people mad cause you cant get girls

Well I guess he has about the same IQ as Dani. Can we at least just ban him to the OT section?

No, he really is not!

If you miss him, you have severe issues and should be forced to listen to "getdrunk's" stupid pipe for the rest of your life!

Is it safe to run with no silencer packing?

I would say that it is equally safe to run with or without silencer packing. But what you don't want to do is run with sharp objects. You should walk only. Maybe in your case, sharp objects are not advisable at all.
