What is a good Magazine that will have info related to the Yamaha (and other) enduros

Recommended Posts

I get Dirt Rider and Dirt Bike. Dirt bike has the best stories and rides I think Ron Lawson and Tom Webb are Hilarious. Dirt rider is a thicker magazine with more bike tests Good technical articals and lots of adds. How could you be satified with just one magazine? Maybee you watch too much TV. Sorry the only good thing on TV is supercross and Paris To Dakar IMO.

Form real information, you can get more from thumpertalk than from Dirt Bike or Dirt Rider. For example, one of them ran a test on the WR450 a couple months ago, and the article said that no one makes a kit to remove the AIS. Of course, Yamaha sells a kit, as do some of the aftermarket parts companies (thumpertalk sells one that is popular). It just shows how little research they do. Most of the articles about products and mods are all intended to support their specific advertisers. So when you read their article about how great IMS tanks are, its no surprise there is a two-page ad for IMS on the following page. But when you read the posts on these message boards about all the people who got one that has flaws, or doesn't fit, etc. you find that the real story is quite different.

The main thing I get the mags for is to get ideas about products and mods, then I research 'em on thumpertalk.

Thanks guys, but in their defence, I read that article online and it was on an 05 WR model early in the release and at that time, they said there was no kit available. But there are now...

I may not be happy with just one subscription, I sub to all the major snowmobile mags for just that reason, just wanted to start somewhere, I have stacks of old dirt bike mags in my basement from about 20 years ago..

Could not agree more. I dont have anything against mags but just dont rely on rock solid, across the board "Unbiased" opinion from them - the editorial writers have their allegiances firmly seated amongst certain manufacturers quarters- funny how some mags dont get some manufacuters' bikes to test eh!!

Like you say, they are a good source for product reviews/ideas but when it comes to bikes, I would make my own conclusions after reading the information in any mag.

The Bike Mags in AUS that deal with real riding issues and places to ride, rather than "biased" tests (IMO) are now becoming more popular, I have not seen an equivalent in the US though.
