is it worth it to buy a 2005 yzf 450 that needs a new bottom end, the bike seems to be in good shape.

No. Buy a 06 and be done with it, this way you know nothing has been done to the bike.

A bike that needs a new bottom end is not one I would say is in good shape. If there is a maintenance problem (i.e. lack of maintenance) then I would say run away from it 'cause you'll be rebuilding everything (shock, forks, etc etc). If it's free, then maybe.....

A bike that needs a new bottom end is not one I would say is in good shape.


If they lack maintenance on something like that, it should be a warning flag that they haven't done maintenance on anything else either.
