Stop !!!!!!!!!
Remove cam cover and check valve timing before going any further.
If timing has moved, you probably should remove the head to check the valves.

How tight did you turn the adjusterin& did the engine turn over at all or it was locked from the start

in manual it states the chain can lock up if drawn the wrong way. It pretty much locked up right away .. clunk noise then jam. I figured i had to take some parts apart, trying to avoid . Question now is .. I see the numbers on cam gears and the 15 links between in book, but what about the chain and its alignment w/ crank? also do you think it could've realy skipped or is it just jammed on case or something my guess. Thanks ... Ron

There is a "T" mark on the fkywheel, with a line beside it, line this up with the hole in the top of the generator cover.
If you do a search there have been a couple of threads recently on this topic.

More explaination on chain lock up, took plug out so was no compresion issue. I had tightened the new mcct fairly tight by hand .. my guess it wasn't enough. Im just guessing the chain is a little jammed but not timing jump. ?? man want to ride not wrench!

Neil and gang, well.. five hours later, and I found out it was a false alarm.. haha better safe than sorry on this one. The tension I had felt was the actual valve springs to valve. the maks all linned up. something no one has mentioned is the fact of 15 splines on chain between the 3 n 2 marks at tdc. I had checked all that, looked good rotated engine a couple of turns seems fine. Din't fire it up yet but am confident she will fire right up. While in there I checked primary nut and loads of other crap while apart. The imediate responses and all the reading I have done on this site for about 11 months gave me much famliararity and confidence to tear her open! Much Thanks ... Ride On ... Ron
