Just got off the phone with Sudco and Ron Ayers. I ordered the following per "FCR Conversion Burned style"

Quote

sudco part needed-

1)016-925 39mm fcr-mx w/choke no tps.
2)021-216 FCR adapter 2-3/8 carb to S air boot
3)021-439 o-ring for adapter
4)017-262 EMN needle

suzuki oem parts needed-

1)'E' Intake Manifold: Suzuki p/n 13111-29F00, Pipe,Intake
2)'E' Manifold Clamp: Suzuki p/n 09402-58208, Clamp
3)vacuum port nipple to retain S petcock Suzuki p/n 13685-29F00 Union,Intake Port **

Guy at Sudco said he had 20 of the carb and I just got the last one! Phew.

Besides these parts is there anything else I might need? It's going on a new 2006 DRZ400-SM. Any specific tool? Am I really going to need an impact wrench? I think I've read around 500 pages of posts on the carb stuff and i'm pretty Gdamn nervous about doing it. Never touched a carb before. I wish it was as easy as the 3x3 mod.

Will let you know how it goes.

I don't see why you would need an impact wrench, just basic tools.

Make sure it is Jetted to burned specs. Not difficult at all. Remove the sub-frame mounting bolts and the exhaust bolt at the sub-frame. That will give you wiggle room.
Make sure the air box boot is all the way on. The right side can be difficult to see and you don't want to get any dirt in there.

Don't be intimidated, you can do the whole job with a phillips screwdriver,10mm,12mm sockets and 10mm wrench, possibly a metric allen key for the exhaust bolt 8mm ,I think

If you run into any problems post here and someone will be sure to help.

Make sure you take the time to replace the float bowl phillips screws with allens if it doesn't have them already. It sucks to try and get those phillips out when you're trying to change the jets...the phillips strip out very easy also. Carb mod is pretty easy, you won't have any problems...

Did Sudco say when they were going to restock the FCR-MX's? I will be ready to pull the trigger on that mod in a couple of months. I'm watching a couple on ebay but I would prefer a new one for a little more than the price that they want for a USED one:eek:

Thanks for all the responses. I can't wait to give it a try. Seems like the most common problem is getting those screws out without stripping them.

The guy at Sudco laughed when I told him I was from ThumperTalk forums. Apparently we bought all 20 of his carbs. :) He didn't mention when the next shipment was coming in.

I will document the install step by step with pictures like I did on my CBR to help other super wrench noobies.

Thanks again. This place is awesome!
