I'm convinced the DRZ would hang with or pull my CRF450R from the mid range on up. Rev the DRZ, riding it a gear lower and it will be right in the meat of the powerband. You've built a beast Eddie & Ron!
:

I hope your CRF450 is built up a little, or your seat of the pants dyno is off, because I watched a mildly modified KTM 380 smoke countless CRF450R time and time again this weekend...

Edit: Ah, I see now that they only built a 300. Still I hope we must be stronger than an average CRF450.

KTMTalk guys have been talking about a joint forum ride.so I naturally jumped right in and offered up the WCTTR06 event this May 26-29 at Stonyford as an opportunity for such a happening.

any chance we could get the DRZ475TT to come up to NorCal by then ?? Maybe get the KTM300EXC there too.. ? that would be very cool. A chance for the Forums faithfull in the west at least to see the bikes.

Dirt Rider Magazine Suggestions:
- Select a bike that is representative of the community
- Build the bike for an averaged sized guy and skill level

The bike definately meets the first suggestion but I think you may have exceeded the 2nd one a little after reading all the parts that went into it! :bonk:   :bonk:

The suspension is sooo plush, almost making it feel like it would be too soft to push, but when ridden hard, it's very progressive and never harsh. Nice, nice work Mr. Curea!

Thanks Bryon.....

It was an honor to be chosen to perform the suspension mods.....

Take Care, John

No flame intended here, but have you ever ridden a CRF450R? Smoking a CRF450R with a DRZ is something 'just' short of a miracle. Burned did an outstanding job!!!!

Brian,
I think what you did is a testimony to the dirt bike community. Though this isn't a shootout, I am sure it is hard not to feel competitive. Despite that, you stepped up and helped out another forum. Thanks for that.

Absolutely, way to go!

Im on this site, but are also on ktmtalk. Some one from this site gave crf's only a clutch after they burned it up and blamed it on a ktmtalk rider, you were saying that the drz could pull people out on doubles, the ktmtalk bike did bring people out on doubles. Thank you brian on the comment on our bike, we needed it after crf's only bashing us, why didnt the drz go on the long ride? Bobby

because the two bryans got lost while out riding, turning a 20 minute ride into an hour, and when they got the other had left.

maybe that gps would not have been such a bad idea? eh' boys?

In the Bryans' defense, I can testify that it would be very easy to get lost riding around Keyesville, if you looked at the maze of trails from the air it would look like someone dropped spaghetti......and, in addition, that day it was cloudy, drizzly and sometimes foggy with no sun to navigate by.

I think that's wrong.. Why would the blame someone for something like that, it could have happen too anyone of the bikes out there.. Personally I would not mine owning any of the bikes that everyone built, I think everyone did a great job on building the bikes, Great job everyone ..

It cracks me up how this story has evolved. Soon to be urban legend. Can't wait to hear how it ends. It'll be a doozy.

I have rode 300xc's and in stock form they will give a 450 a run, they are more fun than a CRf450 flat out.

I can only imagine what type of power your KTM brought to the table. If it were my choice I would take both the DRz and the KTM. They would be the most fun of the bunch.

I will enjoy reading this article. What did that 450 have anyway? Big bore?

You gentlemen did a fine job on the bikes. Looks like all of the site sponsors really steeped up, and you all did a fine job managing the builds. I can't help but think this would have made for a great premiss for a reality show.

Good luck to all the builders. The bikes look great and I bet then run superb. You should have included some superglue with each bike so they could have glued their butts to the seats. I only wish Dirt Rider would have invited the crew from Motocross.com and it's forums :bonk:

Good luck to all...and to all a goodnight

Just went to crfsonly.com, did not see anyone bashing the ktmtalk guys, just has a comment that a ktmtalk rider was on the CRF when the clutch burned out - they surmise that it was because the rider was not used to a Rekluse and rode in a gear too high in the snow - I did not read in any malice in the comments ....

As to the clutch story, after hearing about the burned out clutch AJ of DRN and Bryan got their heads together, AJ had a spare clutch for the CR500AF but did not know if it would fit the CRF, Bryan offered to check his bike, so they offloaded it, pulled the clutch cover, checked the fit, and then replaced the crfsonly.com CRF's clutch with the spare AJ had.

It is great to see all the forums pulling together ....

Great job on that DRZ, my last bike was a DRZ400S, man I loved that bike ..... wish mine looked and ran like the DRZ475TT - what an awesome bike !

I would like to lay some smack down on that CRF - that sure is one pimped out ride !

CRFsOnly has a section up with pictures and very positive comments about each of the bikes. Personally, I would feel fortunate to own any of them. They're all great efforts for the particular bike used and their intended purpose. I looks like all the forums had a lot of great input from their members. It was very cool to see that TT was able to go beyond that and have a number of highly capable hands from within the TT community that physically worked on the DRZ.

You got dat right! We followed the trail markers and still got lost at a couple of funky intersections. A maze is right! But, I loved the area and I'm sure I'll be back in the future, now that we have the lay of the land.
