My experience with cheap bateries is they are cheap batteries. They are lighter, less plates, fewer CCA. In most cases they work just fine. However, in the case of DRZ400, the OEM battery is marginal to start with so to reduce CCA any more is asking for problems. If you are happy with a half price battery, that's fine. I was not. It was not from TT but they are probably all made the same place.

I got 4 years out of my stock battery... if this battery lasts 2 years at half the price, looks even to me.... anything more, the better..

Your the drz electrical expert so I highly value your opinion on the subject, what kind did you run? My battery lasted 4 years and then after my last ride it went dead... I'm thinking I hit my gps switch that has a small led light that drained it over the last couple of weeks, do you think it would be enough to completely kill my battery??

Thanks everyone for the input!

I've had that exact battery in my bike for about a year. It's plugged into a battery tender when I am not riding. I have had zero issues with it.

rockchucker22 - The cheap battery I used was from Chaparral, Lynn Vick Products (LVP) It just never had any poop to it. I used it for a month. Maybe it was just a poor example but I returned it and put the 5 year old GS back into service. That lasted another 10 months and I finally put in a Yuasa. The difference in starting between the old GS and the new LVP was nada. It was cross your fingers. (E bike with S compression but no auto compression release). The difference with the new Yuasa was a big difference. Hit the button and boom its running. I need all the CCA I can get.

The yusa I had for the last 4 years fired my E up with ease its entire life, you have me leaning towards old tried and true yusa.Although everyone that has had personal experience with this particular battery seem to like it :excuseme: I have a few other things I going to order so I have a week or so to decide! Thanks for all the comments...keep them coming! :applause:

I just installed one I got from Rocky Mountain ATV which cost me about $45 delivered. I road last weekend, and it fired up the bike nicely. I was trail riding with some ATV's and stopped the bike often with no problems firing back up. Bike seemed to run better with the new battery also.

My battery went dead over the winter. Completely dead nothing wouldn’t even make the smallest bulb I could find glow the slightest. Charging did nothing. Trickle or Boost. Popped the top off of it (factory battery) had a bit of trouble but still came off without damaging anything. Looked at for awhile… :prof: figured what the hell add some water can’t screw it up any more than it is. So I added 3mls, of distilled water, charged it for 1hr on 2amp charge. To my surprise it came back to life slightly. So I added 3 more & then a nother 3mls more of water charged up for another 1.5hrs. whamo the battery is back in my bike. Been running it for 2 weeks every day. Granted its probably not going to last real long time. But dam it’s cranking the bike over real nice. I’m not going to rush out to buy a new battery as is :ride:

was that 6ml of water per reservoir or was that 6ml total. And does it have to be distilled water.

I had a dead battery also after 4 years and just for kicks i added some distilled water then threw it on my battery tender. it leaked. I thought well maybe i just put too much water in and it was just venting so i popped the top, resealed it and charged it again overnight on the battery tender and there was a big spot on my garage floor. The battery came back to life but every time i charged it, it would vent acid so i decided to chuck it and when i pulled it out, the battery acid ate around the positive terminal and reeked havok. I dont reccomend ever refilling a sealed maintinance free battery but I had to find out on my own. If you do decided to do this just be ready to etch your garage floor or worse case, your swingarm if you charge it in the bike.

How much water did you use, you need only a small amount of water to moisten the fiberglass mat inside the battery. Start off with a couple ml per cell. Rotor388 used more water than I did to bring his back. Your battery case must be cracked and in that case get a new battery. Hope this doesn't discourage anyone else from trying it, my battery is still going strong almost a year to date from when it started acting up. No tender, wiring fix, 14.4v on bike.Still have new battery in the box :applause: :applause: vanram
