Why are the RM forks an upgrade to the old S style forks? Other than the inversion?

the conventional RM forks that look almost identical to the DRZ forks are and upgrade because of tunability. the early "S" forks have no rebound adjustment. plus the intenals differ slightly. The artist formerly known as Burned, Nate, or OSITECH can give you the specifics in greater detail than I. The USD also offer the same tunability and are stiffer. ie, less lateral and torsional flex. meaning more precise steering. but for trail riding thay have hinderances too, depending on the environment. I pound sand whoops all day, so this is a better set up for me, since stiffer is better in the sand.

The 2000 and 2001 DRZ400S forks are basically pogo sticks with oil in them. I got rid of mine as soon as I could.

Are 98' a good choice? I thought the minimum year was 99.
