kill switch to ground the primary wires

Just like all the two stroke bikes, would it be ok for a kill switch to short the primary ignition wires to ground? The reason I ask is because tethered kill switches are required for ATV racing, but aftermarket tether switches are designed to close a circuit when the cord is pulled. The YFZ450 electronics are nearly identical to the WR's.

These tethers were obviously designed before bikes had on-off switches for their battery power.
