You don't even have a 6 gallon tank. Looks like a 4.3 or 4.6...

FYI:

Tank: 6.0 gallons - 24 liter capacity. Complete with aluminum fitting and cap. Also mounts dry brake system for quicker refilling! Includes necessary hardware to mount to a stock-equipped bike.

Underseat Tank: 3.7 gallons - 14 liter capacity. No fuel pump necessary. Easy air filter access without removing tank. No modifications necessary for mounting this tank!

That equals 9.7 gallons! Strapping an extra 55 - 60 lbs to your piggy when the tanks are full. Ouch!!

I can't offer anything other than for me 4 gallons...........160 miles is quite enough time on any seat without a break. On the other hand if you're 160 miles out in the middle of the dessert it sure would be nice to have a gas station or another 4 gallons in there. I'm not a dessert racer so I can't really say 8 plus gallons is overkill it's just way to much weight "overhead" for my type of riding. I will say that pictured tank is one nice piece of design..........sure is a nice way to get the extra gallons in place and look great too.

Actually, I hope to make it look smaller with this graphic set I picked up off eBay. I want to paint the side covers black and the area below the tank graphic too.

I have the 3.1 or 3.2 and I pushed it to 85 miles this morning...Barstow to San Dimas...when I filled up in san dimas it filled 3.05 gallons. I had to stop about 5 miles before the gas station on the side of the freeway and put the bike on its side the gas would go from one side to the other. Average speed was 70mph...I want to know what kind of riding you guys are doing to get 160 miles out of 4 gallons.

My gearing is 15/48...on the way up I stopped at a buds house and picked up a 45/46/and 47 sprocket to see how much better I can make this thing for dual sporting...it took me 6 gallons to go 186 miles from san dimas to apple valley to stoddard to outlet center back to san dimas...with about 40 miles of trail riding thrown in.

After looking at a 2 year old dakar KTM rally bike today with a 10 liter per side front tank and whatever it held in the back tanks i wanted to take it for a ride!

Kritter, if you went 85 miles on 3 gal you only got 28 mpg. Most are getting 40 mpg. If you are getting 40 mpg and you have 4 gal you will get 160miles. You should check your #'s or check your bike. If you run 15/45 and have it set up for dual sport you should get closer to 50 mpg. I get 47 mpg and I run the 15/48 and 50 mpg with 15/45. I just put a Clarke 4.3 gal on 650r and went 197 miles and it took 4.07 gal which is 48 mpg on 15/48. Check your #'s.

15/48 and I had to get gas before I got home...0.2 was left in the tank and that was all highway. When I filled up in barstow I made sure to squish all the gas in I could. My first stop on the way up was at the 138 and I was at 35mpg...but that was crusing at 60-65...once over the pass traffic was going 70-80 and my next stop for gas yielded worse mileage.

PS im a big SOB and I use a lot of right hand...

Actually their are 3 big tanks available for the BRP...

Acerbis 6 + 3.5 gallons

IMS 7 gallons

Aqualine 6.25 gallons

A very cool design from Australia

All three of these tanks need support from behind the radiators to the frame.

The IMS tank has a cool fuel pump taken from the quad world. The IMS tank is available with a dry break. It has been used in baja racing and works well.

The Acerbis had done several Dakar rally's, and the Aqualine is the standard on the Australian Safari Rallye...
