first post (& countershaft seal ?)

Recommended Posts

Hi fellas,

First of all, thanks for all the advice. Although this is my first post, I've been lurking on here for many months before deciding the WR450 is the bike for me. It's easy to find most info on here just by searching.

Anyhow, yesterday I spent a straight 16 hrs in the car picking up a clean 2003 for $2950. It's stock except for the tall guts seat, rad guards and throttle stop mod. I'll get started on the other free mods soon.

My question is this: the original owner installed a new countershaft oil-seal when putting on new sprockets, and pushed it in too far (about 2.5 mm past the edge of the casing.) I've got 2 on order, and am wondering if the seals outer surface should just be flush with the engine case? Any new tips and tricks would be helpful. Thanks again.
