99 yz400f and yz400fl??

does anybody know the difference between the 99yz400f and the yz400fl? Is there a difference?

What are you talking about, "L"?

To my extensive knowledge, there was no limited edition YZ400F.

Okay, another post like this.

YZ is the model of the bike (race bike in Yamaha's case)
400 denotes the engine size
F denotes 4 stroke
L denotes the year of the bike (L=99)

So YZ400FL is the Technical model name of the motorcycle. Most just call it a 400F for short.
