Where is a website for the trail system that runs from Coast to Coast Across America?

I thought that there was now a trail that ran from east to west across America. Any info on it?

I'm trying to figure out what the terrain will be like so I can outfit the Starbucks 650L for the trek. Here's what I was thinking:

1. Cee Bailey's windscreen - not sure if the speeds on this trail will exceed 60mph, so I don't know if this is necessary.

2. Happy Trails side and rear rack - to hold soft bags

3. Soft bags from Aerostich or Givi, plus rear fender bag

3. Tire bag for front fender

4. Larger tank - Acerbis or Clarke - I hate to do this, but I imagine it's almost a necessity for some parts of the trail

5. Some sort of seat pad, or an ass pad

6. Different tires - any suggestions?

7. Ditching it al and buying a KLR650, complete with a larger tank and a rear rack - I think this bike might not perform as well if the trail gets a little knarly. Better stick with the L.

there's a big group ride comming up too.

Try SpringTAT.com or google that and you'll find a pretty active forum about the ride. It takes place every year.

If I get some stock size wheels for my bike, I might make a trip up there later in the year. Might try the group ride next year.

Yep, the website is up. I'm surprised, though - it's all about short term trips. I thought there might be a group that rides the whole thing all the way to Oregon. But hey...who has the time!

I'll have to get a trailer and haul my bike down there - shouldn't be too bad!! Might be better to do it closer to the summer months.

Just remember the begginning of the trail is pretty far south, KY, MS, Ark will be HOT! in June/July/August. We've already hit 80s a few times this month down here.

Don't forget a cupholder. ?

Check out Michelin Karoos, I have 1600 on mine and the front looks like new the rear is still good enough for dirtplay. They are a blister to mount. ?

Nah, our weather patterns here are much different than up North. We rarely ever get Rain for days. Generally our storms are afternoon/evening thunderstorms which are much more common in the summer, than in the spring. But spring storms can get nasty especially when a cold front crosses a warm air mass. But that's still seldom.

I lived in New England until I was 18 and we would have those spring showers for days at time, and mud, mud, mud. Down here that's not too common. I've lived in the South (FL, SC, LA) for the last 8yrs and the Weather is much more coperative than up north. Just the summers are HOT and miserable.

Not sure if you're aware but there's also a TransCanda Trail as well. Some chics snowmobiled the whole thing a couple years ago to raise $ for Breast Cancer Research. http://www.tctrail.ca/en/home.php not sure if you can ride a motorcycle on it though.

I looked on the site - I didn't see anything that indicated who can and cannot use the trail, but I really wouldn't want to mow over some unsuspecting hiker out there.

Going down south seems more adventurous. Kinda like Deliverance, except without the, well, ah...you know.... ?
