TeraFlex II America vs. China Version Comparison

The Teraflex leaves its mark, spinning or not. It bites deeply into sandy soil. I have always had great traction. Mud and sand suit this tire. I don't go flat out so I haven't had rubbing issues.

As far as cornering goes, I can lean the BRP way over with this tire. I am talking about slower speeds, not sliding through turns.

BTW, I will pay for shipping (to my house) for any slightly used American made Teraflex tires. ?

i just installed the Chinese version on my Drz. i rode it last saturday for the first time and was very happy. i did about 40 miles, 30/10 on/off road. the traction this thing get in the dirt is astounding! i couldnt keep the front tire down even in the soupy mud. as far as road(pavement) manners, i dont know yet. i took it easy in the corners as it was cold out, and lots of sand to becarful of. i was able to lift the front tire at will. i know i dont have an XR, just thought it might help. oh, and no fitment problems on the drz! ??

Nice photo tamibird. I find that I can't expect to brake hard into a turn on paved roads with the Teraflex.

I too have got about 40 miles on my new T flex - about 50/50 dirt to street

no rubbing, getting great traction but braking on the street is not where it was with my other tire.

It is getting better as it breaks in.

Well here is a report a few months later.

I can't wait to get this P.O.S. off my bike. I'm going to list my issues with this tire...

1) The damn thing kicks around non stop. My back end is constantly flying left and right.

2) Sucks horribly in any whoops. Once again it kicks left and right like a banshee and the extra weight make it that much more dangerous because it is hard to stop that momentum..

3) This tire is HEAVY. So much that unless all you do is climb hills and go straight then do not buy this tire.

4) Cornering sucks! I didn't add links to my chain so it's not way back or anything.

5) Way to wide. It leaves such a massive footprint and it has such huge lugs that it grabs everything and anything so that pushes your bike all around even more.

6) On a 650R you have to move it waaay back on the swingarm or it will grind down the middle part of your swingarm. Thus-wise making the cornering even worse.

I can't think of anymore issues right now but I will definitely post if I think of any others. BTW my buddy who had the Chinese version took his off and GAVE IT AWAY before he even had 20% of the treads worn down. That's how bad this tire is...

If you are an aggressive rider who rides a lot of higher speed stuff with lots of whoops stay away from the teraflex.

I put my Tera-flex on last year and I love it. I tried lots of solutions to get it to fit (extra chain length - one length is too much and then it's back farther than the rear adj. allows). I finally changed the front gear to a 15 tooth and it was perfect. didn't need the top end high speed anyway...it will do 80-85 no problem and never touch the swingarm.

I think mine handles the whoops just fine. Sure, maybe it doesn't stick like others, but I don't race it and it works awesome for about any terrain you get into. In Michigan, we have trails w/ mud, snow, sand whoops, big hills and flat out open 'er up and rip trail sections. This is the best tire I have rode that can fit the best of all those worlds....and it lasts forever compared to some that you have to change mid-season.

Best bang for my buck....but I think it all depends on the type of riding you do. My two-cents worth.

If you are an aggressive rider who rides a lot of higher speed stuff with lots of whoops stay away from the teraflex.

The weight alone makes it a poor choice for where there's going to be a lot of high-speed suspension action (unless you're going to adjust the damping).

For riding a notch or 2 down, though, it works pretty sweet.

Traction-king, DOT, and run-flat, its good for a lot of folks, but it is indeed ill-mannered sometimes.

I have had the Tflex on my 650L for about 150 mile 60/40 road/dirt before going from sand to mud and clay on a ride. It handled great. I was about 3 1/2 mile in and got a flat. That tire got me out without having to walk my bike so I think I would have to say it is a good tire. It does seem just a little squirrelly on the road, but I try to stay off road as much as possible. To many crazies on the roads. But this is my own opinion.
