Kinda stupid, but....

Recommended Posts

I love my 426, and I know Husky's had problems but are your friends riding the new TEs? I guess I'd be interested in hearing what, specifically, are the major malfunctions in an 05 or 06 that you've seen? You say they kick it a lot - does the e-start not work? Or are they all older huskys?

I know this is the Yami forum, but I'm buying a new bike and so far the o6 husky TE looks a lot better than the 06 WR. Street legal OTD, no mods, more uummph, easy maintenance (valves and plug at least - the plug is right off the case - no more removing the tank just to change the ? plug.)

Anyway, I'm interested in what you said . . .

One of my buddys has the 06' 510, and I actually really like that bike after he stripped it down and put the MX exhaust on it, he races the off road series with it here in WA state and his only complaint to date is the inconsistent starting. My guess is that it has something to do with jetting. The suspension and power are awesome!

I have a buddy with an 05' 510 and it also has starting problems, he always has jumper cables when we go riding. He has a Rekluse auto clutch in it and the bike is always overheating unless we are riding open land.

I have buddy with an 05' 450 and he had a valve drop on him at about 30 hours, he redid the top end with oversized valves and he his happy but he also carries jumper cables with him.

My experience is that are overheating alot, they are hard to start, kick starters are not standard equipment but you can get the kit but I've seen alot of the kick starters snapping

:bonk:

I didn't mean to bag on them that bad, I think the street legal thing is cool because they are very off road oriented ?

You'll be happy, start checkin' out the Husky forum and you'll be sure to get a sense of the typical issues you'll see.

XRIowa,

One good thing about the stock WR tail light is if you want to tag or dual sport your WR, the light is already wired for a dual filament bulb, and even comes with a dual filament bulb from the factory. That makes it a 10 minute job to hook up a hydraulic brake light switch for inspection. And the stock WR light looks more "street legal" than the narrow little LED units on the Honda or KTM. Just something to consider...

The KTM's are EXACTLY the same. Dual filament bulb. You can even buy a ready made hydraulic switch/wire harness from Enduro Engineering so it's plug and play.

Have you looked at the Husky TE450? That's my next bike this spring. Comes street legal, rides like a racer and outpulls the WR by about 5 horses, after the WR has been modded. (and KTM by 3). There's more to life than red and blue ? .

BTW the TE 510 is awesome too.

I was going to get the Husky till I saw that it had a check bolt instead of a dip stick. The bolt has been known to strip out the magnesium side case. The Husky guys thought I was picky because I wanted a better way to check my oil than a stripped out hole in my motor. I also checked for after market parts for husky and found none. I compared the price on dealer parts and Husky costed twice as much as Yamaha. I bet the Husky fanatics will find this post and be all over it. ?

Proton sold their 57% or so share in Husqvarna for 1 euro.

They are in serious trouble, I would stick to the japanese.

This says more about the health of the parent company than it does about the Husky brand. If you buy a truck, but you can't afford the gas and insurance, aren't you better off selling the truck to someone in exchange for them taking over payments? Does that mean the truck is a POS? Maybe it is to you but that only means that you can't use it the way it needs to be used.

Proton sold their share of MV Augusta (which includes the Husky brand) in exchange for the new owner's assumption of MV Augusta's debt - Virtually every company in the world has debt - I'm sure Husky's going to be fine.

Saw that yesterday on an 06' TC450, (MX model), guy was checking his oil because the oil filter cover had started leaking. Bike only has 10 hours on it, oil filter has'nt even been changed yet

anyway........ I am impressed with the power of the 06' 510 ?
