I have a 2005 XR650L with approx. 2,300 miles on it. I noticed today on a ride it is not down shifting properly. It feels like the shifter is jammed or something. I mean a few times i really had to stomp on the shifter to get into 1st. Is there an adjustment that needs to be done??? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT.
THANKS

Check the clutch cable freeplay at the lever. Everything is breaking in now and all the cables, clutch & throttle, have stretched. Pull out your owners manual, but 1/4" - 1/2" measured at the end of the lever is normal. Anymore and the clutch won't fully disengage when you pull in the clutch. Any less and it'll might be starting to slip because it may never be fully engaged.
