Bike protection plates, what should I get??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I want to get some frame and chasis protection for my bike as follows. What in your opinions is the best to get?

1) Enduro bashplate for underneath and sides of engine

2) Radiator gaurds (I like the Unabiker)

3) Frame protector against boots etc (I like the Devol)

Let me have all your experience to help me choose the best setup ?

Cheers and thanks in advance

Utah Sport Cycle Bash Plate

Unabiker rad protection

Devol Frame guards

These 3 are the best combinations for protection IMO. ?

Far be it for me to disagree with the esteemed Indy, but on the frame guards I have to go with the Acerbis plastic frame protectors. They're hard to find and aren't listed as fitting the WR450 (they do), but if you wear white boots (I do) any aluminum frame guard will make a mess out of them. The Acerbis' cover more area, as well. ? I do agree with his first two recommendations, though. :bonk:

Plus they look better, IMO. Same respect to Indy.

I like the stock plastic ones on my KTM. ? I did not know Acerbis made some for our bikes. ?
You won't find them on their website, but they do make them. I had to special order mine, but they are so much easier on your boots than aluminum and they protect the frame better. here's a pic of mine:

I thought all plastics manufacturers made plastic frame guards?

I don't know why you guys cant find them?

Ever thought of getting some made for an '03 - '05 YZ? Not that hard at all.

In Australia, B&B Aluminium make the best frame guards and bash plates.

They are cheap and very tough. They are also look awesome with smooth rolled bends.

What about the works connection frame gaurds? :bonk:
Dude, what part of what I posted don't you understand? ? If you don't care what an aluminum frame guard will do to your boots, any of them will work fine. I had the WC guards and they made a mess of my white boots. When I took them off in favor of the Acerbis, I also found that they had done almost as much damage to the frame as if I had never used them. Sand and dirt gets stuck under them and abrades the metal over time. The Acerbis' are far kinder to the frame and they cover more of it. ?

What a stupid comment!

Maybe you need to get some better aluminium frame guards!

Mine come with a foam backing so nothing gets behind them. My frame is still new.

It is not what the guard is made of, it is how high the guard goes up.

Maybe you have got shit plastic boots or something?

My B&B guards go way up, they don't ruin my boots. I got fox forma pro's by the way, still great newish condition after 2 or so years or so.

So, is it only the works connection frame gaurds that screw up the frame from the inside. ? Will the Devol come with foam/sponge on the inside or is it shaped in such way that it doesn't damage the frame like works connection?

My boots don't bother me too much as there are black. :bonk:

Matty05, I have had alook at B&B on the net. I will ask them whether they sell worldwide. Do you now of any other Ozi online stores to buy stuff from. So will any frame gaurds for 03-05 YZ or WR fit the 06WR? Cheers mate ?

It's obvious all you want to do in here is stir up shit. Didn't the shitstorm you started with your 9/11 comment teach you anything? Apparently not. Keep showing yourself for the shitstain you are. ?

You don't know what you are talking about pure and simple.

Not stirring shit, you just speak shit.

You say aluminium is so bad, I say you full of shit.

Just got my Utah Sport Cycle Bash plate a week or two ago...can't wait to slap that on. Would like the aluminum frame guards, but opted to go cheap - UFO's...have not gottem yet, but people say they're ok. Those B&B aluminum ones from Oz look real good - may have to see what shipping may cost.

You're right. I have no idea about any of this. Magazines pay me to write about this stuff simply because I'm clueless. Thanks for clearing that up for me. ?
