WR front disk

It's been a couple years ('99 250 YZ) since I bought a Yam. Just brought home a new WR426. Did they make some new discovery that loosely riveting the front disk to the hub mount is better? Looks scary but I guess they know what they're doing. Anyone know the story here?
What about the timing. Do I still need to advance the gear to match the YZF timing? I heard that doesn't need to be done anymore...

The rotor is supposed to be loose, It's called a semi floating rotor and actually helps with brake drag and brake efficiency.Yamaha is using more and more sportbike technology on these bikes every day.
As for the timing, I don't believe anybody knows for sure yet, so you might want to hold off for a little while.
