1994 XR600r, When riding on road I hear a buzz/whine. (not knobby) and appears to be coming from either cable or gear head at wheel . anyone ever do any preventive maintainance on the gear head ? Manual doesn't show any. I'll probably lube cable, but what about gear head ? clean & lube with what ? or better leave nylon dry ? If it is nylon .

I've known instances where a speedo head was lubed via an aerosol, like chain lube, and while it lubed it, it also partially infiltrated and fogged the speedo lens ... instead, I would try a dab of grease on my finger, and push a small amount into the speedo drive, it won't take much .. :applause:
