I'm looking for an 06 450 in Texas and haven't very good results with phone calls so far, unless you consider $8100 in Corpus a good deal. Anybody who has bought one and doesn't mind throwing up the price and where you got it, lay it out there. You can also PM me if you would rather do it that way.

I was just in CC Plaza yesterday and they still didn't have a 450. When I talked to them a few weeks ago, they weren't positive that they would even be receiving one. 8100 seems pretty high, and I'll bet you will find one for somewhere around 7-7100 otd.

By the way, we STILL gotta get together and RIDE!!!! :applause:

They said they had the bike in the back but it wasn't put together yet. I didn't personally see it though so he may have been blowin' sunshine up my skirt :applause: .

We are going next Sunday to CycleRanch if you wanna go. Bring the wife and kids since I know mine wouldn't miss it. I still have your number, I'll give ya a buzz. We've been busy getting our house ready to sell and the holidays so we haven't ridden since before Christmas and we are due.

Hi guys,

I'd be pretty surprised if Bob (the manager) at Cycle Plaza quoted anyone $8100. He didn't think he was even going to get a 450 this year. Yamaha told him he would get one only, but since it hadn't shown up by now he thought they had reallocated it to another dealer. To make a long story short-I picked up my 06 450F LE from Cycle Plaza yesterday (Saturday). He thinks this is the only YZ450F he will get this year with an outside possibility of getting one more this spring. He is going to get another KXF 450 though if anyone is interested- and I understand that Geno loves his. And no, I didn't pay $8100 OTD. He gave me a better deal than the other dealers I contacted in Texas and other states. The highest price I was quoted in Texas was $7480 OTD from Central Texas Powersports for a blue one. If you were at DD yesterday or Xtreme today you probably saw me. It's a great bike, excellent handling and power. It does feel much smaller than previous YZ450F's, but while it may feel smaller than a Yamaha 250F it doesn't feel smaller than my KXF 250, or much smaller than my '05 CRF 450. It is remarkably smooth however. Look me up at the track and ask me about it. Yellow YZF 450 #12

Ummm, if you buy a bike in Texas and live in Texas you have to pay sales tax. Based on the dealer cost of $5873, if the shop made NO profit it would still be $6240 + about $50-$95 for a title making it about $6300 OTD. You could get it cheaper if you bought it in another state and didn't register it in Texas, but that is the only way you could do it. For instance, If you bought a bike in Michigan for $6200 (like you say) and registered it in Texas, you would have to pay $388 in sales tax plus title fees making it more than $6600 total PLUS shipping from Michigan. The only way around this in Texas is to list the bike as farm equipment then you don't have to pay sales tax.

Are you gonna throw it out there how much you paid for it? I'm not sure if it was Bob I talked to but I can assure that is what I was told. When I asked him if they were set on that price and he said yes, that was enough for me. I wish I knew the secret handshake to make a deal at CC plaza or in Michigan because everytime I ask about a price on a bike, they give MSRP plus a chunk for their wife.

Hey PK, I am definitely not a gigolo (I'm not sure I can even spell it right). The reason I was surprised by what you were quoted when you called is that CC Cycle Plaza has been trying to get me a bike since August-and they had a hard time doing that by the first week of January- and I would be surprised that they would even give you a quote. It is entirely possible that one of the sales people might have quoted you that price without knowing how much difficulty the manager was having getting one for me. I'm like you, I'm not going to pay $8100 OTD to Cycle Plaza or anyone else. That's just crazy and personally I would be offended and laugh at somebody if they honestly quoted that price to me. Like I said in my previous post, of the dealers that I called that had a bike or could get me one right away, $7480 OTD IN TEXAS, was the HIGHEST price I was quoted. As far as price goes, I got it for what Jaybird said he could get you one for in Orange TX, except mine is yellow, and I suspect he is quoting you for a blue one. Where the secret handshake is concerned- I think the best deal comes from dealing with the sales manager and not the sales staff. Bob doesn't give bikes away just because I am friends with him. He likes his money as much as the next dealer. The dealers have to make a profit to stay in business. It helps when trying to get a good deal, that I buy at least one new bike every year. They know that in the long run they will profit more by giving me a reasonably good deal each year and having me buy another bike from them next year, than trying to rape me and end up never selling me another bike. I don't think that you will have too much trouble in the next few weeks finding an 06 IN TEXAS for $7000-$7200 OTD. I also believe that if you leave off sales tax, title and shipping you can get them for $6500 or less- but that is just a number to brag about and not really meaningful if you are going to register the bike IN TEXAS. I have no idea what the sales tax in Michigan is, but it doesn't really matter if you are goiing to register it in Texas. Good luck-you'll find it if you keep looking. It really is a nice bike. PM me if I can answer any more questions for you since I just went through what you are going through.

the caveat is factory to dealer incentives (which are paid to the dealer by the factory after he sells the bike)... they offer them (as far as i am aware) just like the auto industry does. that is how you could concieveably buy a bike for less than invoice, just like you can buy a car for less than invoice... these incentives are a way to keep older model bikes competitive with newer model bikes as far as sales numbers are concnerned (i.e. crf450 vs. yz450f or kx450f)

I've been to Flour Bluff and know what you mean. Floyd's still has some good Chicken Fried Steak though!

Central Yamaha in Dallas has an 06 450 on the floor with the $6899 sticker price on it.

Not sure if they would deal or what OTD would be but they've got one.
