I've got a 2001 xr650r with the stock exhaust system but the end is drilled out. No tip at all on it. It's reasonably quiet but I might want to quiet it down somewhat. If I want to keep the stock exhaust, what are my options for reducing noise with minimal performance impact? Can I just buy an aftermarket tip and bolt on?

A guy who used to frequent this forum built (off of the HRC tip) a downspout. This reduced his DB level by about 5 db's. That's damn good.

Call Baja Designs, http://www.bajadesigns.com. They have a Baja Baffle that works really well and doesn't affect the performance significantly.

Thanks, I looked at the Baja Designs kit, it appears to be exactly what I need.
