I found in another forum:

I would like to invite volunteers and staff to participate in a work party
at the Jade Mill site on Saturday January 7. It will involve primarily
fence installation and the kiosk for the site. Some restoration and
finishing work on the restrooms may also be included.

Please bring warm clothes, gloves, and eye protection. There will be BLM
staff on hand to form various work parties at 10am (and participate!).

For those unfamiliar, the site is about 1/3 mile above Oak flat on Clear
Creek Road. Turn left at the top of the hill at the dumpster, and follow
R002 past a switchback to the upper site near the new toilets.

We will break for lunch around noon, and participants are welcome to stay
for another hour or to or be on their way at that time.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'm excited to see this project happen, and hope you all spread the word
after the work party.

From some recent weekend visits, BLM staff have noticed numerous groups
accustomed to riding in and around the area and they may be surprised by
the changes this winter. Efforts will be made to contact them over the
coming weeks about the project.

Thanks for any help, and feel free to contact me prior to the work party.

redrider5;
You should do some checking before accusing one of us OHVers of being " brian white, aka JONALA". She was just passing the article on to us.

I'm not surprised that the BLM is asking for volunteer help. For the 2005-2006 session, the BLM didn't put in a grants request for this area from the "Green Sticker" fund. Hmmmm, let's see here, not enough money to do the needed work at Clear Creek so we'll have to keep it closed.

Ride on

Being a member of the Timekeepers Motorcycle Club, I've had the opportunity to work with Brian White on the Wild Boar/Wild Piglet enduros. If you have not met him, he is the ONLY BLM person in the Holister office that has a reasonable approach to the management of Clear Creek. William the ranger has his head on pretty straight as well.

You guys need to realize the "Jade Mill Project" started in the spring and Brian gave us ample opportunity to participate. Brian was going to "improve" the area with or without OHV support. The OHV support that has been provided so far ensured the plan included:

1. Trails in the area to keep riders off the main road.

2. A kids only area in the plan.

3. Camping areas were maximized.

Yes, I agree any fence sucks, but if it is going to happen (and it is) better to have OHV input as to where they should go.

The big changes at Jade Mill are two new toilets, a fence around the perimeter and "lower Jade Mill" will be for day use only. The area will remain about the same, but there will be a perimeter fence, the low lying wood around camp sites like at Oak Flat and the barren area between upper/lower Jade Mill will be fenced off.

I hate what is happening at CC as much as anyone, but rather then just complain, I've felt compelled to participate.

If what is going on at Jade Mill/CC really pisses you off, GET INVOLVED. Complaining doesn't cut it IMHO.

Let the flaming begin!!!

Darn I've been exposed :foul: as an anti OHV zealot. It took a genius to see right through my disguise.
