Hey, I'm located in the Bay Area And I was wondering if anyone had a YZ250F for sale. 2003 or newer would be nice but I'll consider anything.

Thanks for any help or suggestions,

jake.

Thanks for all the help. The plated one is mighty tempting but I'm in San Francisco and i would land myself in a whole heap of trouble (parents, cops, etc.) I've been checking craigslist almost constantly for a month, still looking for that perfect bike, I'm getting close though.

Again, thanks for all the help.

I've got a nice, clean, used 2005 YZ250 two-stroke I'd be happy to sell you.

Thanks for all your help. You don't realise how big CA is until people start naming places you have never heard of.
Now, debate for you all:
Case 1: Reasonably stock 04 for 3500. Tag bars, spark arrestor, new plastics all around, everything greased. Owned by a a mechanic friend, less than ten hours on it.
Case 2: Tricked out 04 for 3800: Ti Pipe, RG3 triples, carbon frame guards, auto clutch, excel rims. Owned by a stranger, claims the bike has never been raced.

Which would you choose knowing that reliability and cash are both a concern?

The bike with ten hours is probably a better buy, but only because of the low hours.

As far as "never been raced", don't let that fool you. Often a racer's bike is better maintained than is a recreational user's. The last thing a racer wants is a Mechanical DNF.

I would go for case #1, if you trust the person.

Low hours, not highly modified, and experienced hands on any machine can make a difference.

i would not take case #2 because it is tricked out. that sends the "im a cocky-a$$ hot" flag to me immediately. regardless of what he claims. in your cases, this bike is not even an option for me.

just my .02, hope that it helps!

Thanks guys, I think I may just bite the bullet and go with the stockish bike. Maybe talk the guy down 200 bucks so i can get a pipe and then mod it slowly from there. Thanks for all the help, my mind is set, YZ250F here I come.
