Looking to be in the new bike market soon. Keeping an ear out for what tru riders have to say. Definately give us some scoop. I also agree, brand loyalty is silly when you splunk down hard earned green but I still feel it takes some sack to change your pack! Good luck with the new machine.

wow!! I clicked that link to the RMZ forum and the first thing I see is "RMZ SIEZED MOTOR" YIKES!!!!

Of course then I saw, "oil leak", "tighten everything" (Typical Zookie LOL), "tighten my cam chain every 3 hours" ....THAT IS ALL I NEEDED TO SEE. I am staying out of that forum! LOL

Kawi was going to release it in 2005. But when a Japanese rider cased the bike and the thing BROKE IN HALF, they went back to the drawing board.

So kawi had a bike, it broke in half, they couldn fix the problem so they ended up designing another new bike from the ground up.

So this is their second chance with the bike; I'm pretty sure they got it right this time.

I've had my 01 426 since the showroom. I havent even opened up the top end on her (knock on wood). I'll be damned if I'm buying a bike that needs the cam chain tightened every 3 rides.

I think 2006 is the year I've been waiting for. :bonk::applause:

Whats to moan about pull it out and put a auto chain tentioner in, whats the big deal its still going to be cheaper than a new yz.

At least you can fix what you dont like (Its not a design flaw, its just what they selected to put in).

Try fixing a turning problem on the 03-05 yz's its almost impossible, now thats a design flaw.Yamaha has had there share of problems, trust me.Kawi actualy has an advantage, by learning from everone elses mistakes, and they have.so has suzuki.Im not bashing yamaha, but at least have an open mind when comparing to other brands.

What about the crappy decompression plug yamaha put in there motors, heck that falls out your motor is toast. But then again that isnt enough to condemn a yz just spend $20 and buy a billet one of off thumpertalk and problem solved. This is what I mean by open minded.Im actually not trying to be a smart a** just want good honest info on all threads.

The '06 450 Yamaha has no decomp plug any longer on the new cast head.

falshh: So if you were going to pick between an 06 RMZ450, and an 06 YZF450, what would you pick? I know your going to say, what about they Kawi or Honda, but I don't like the dealership here that carries those brands. There are great people working there, I just don't like the owner.

RacersRefuge,

If you could get either bike for the same price, which one would you get? I know the answer....

this is a blasphemous claim. you are suggesting that kawaski has an advantage due to it's ability to reverse engineer off of what the other companies have already done? ludicrous. here is why they dont have the advantage (at least because of this claim): all three of the other companies have the same ability to reverse engineer plus they can add there own experience in this product segment. they all have learned from their "mistakes" plus they have experience. they have all been able to refine there own machines... if kawi has an advantage it is not because they have learned from everyone else's mistakes...

I guarantee kawi and suzuki has learnt alot from yamaha and honda and incorporated there mistakes into their designs, it would be stupid not to.Im not nocking yamaha or honda, if kawi and suzuki were the first to have 4-stroke 450's they would have been at a great disadvantage.Whoever comes out with new designs first, takes a risk of it being a bad design and getting a bad rep for years and also could get great rep if they pull it off.

put it this way if suzuki and kawi, didnt pay attention from other manafactures designs, then both of there first 450s blow away yamaha and hondas FIRST 450, now I know you arnt going to give them that much credit, to have both of there first 450s that much better than the fist 450s and possibly the best of even this year compared to honda and yamaha. They did a good job on there homework and it shows.yamaha also has been getting better and better.

bottom line everyone learns from each other and their own experience and mistakes.

where do you buy one of those ...for a first year bike ....especially since the brainiacs at Zookie did not feel it was necessary for people who work for a living to have a reliable bike.

What about the crappy decompression plug yamaha put in there motors, heck that falls out your motor is toast.

We are talking about 2006 bikes....the 06 YZF does not have a decomp plug.....looks like you you stopped shy of an informed decision.

Talk about double speak....sure your not a politician? Zookie learns from other people's mistakes but CHOOSES to put a manual cam chain adjuster? Makes perfect sense......

BTW...quit referring to an 03-05 YZF when the topic is 2006. Sounds like someone wanders into the Yamaha forum with buyer's remorse...:applause:

Dude you need to pay attention to the specifics of the thread befor you rag on it.The guy was talking about a 05rmz and design problems and I simply stated nobody is short of design flaws including yamaha. If you open your eyes and read the next paragraph. I specificaly said Im not talking about a 06yz in its own paragraph, maybe there are to many subjects for you to keep up on stick to one at a time before you.I wrote the paragraph just so guys like you wouldnt come and rag on me, I was really specific.

the point on the chain tentioner was not to bash any brand but to say its a simple fix if you dont like it so quit crying about it,and my next point was yamaha has had similir small insignificant problems in the past and will in the future like everyone will.

Dont take this stuff so serious its just for information anyway, just because there are other 450's that are good out there doesnt make yours bad, it will all be ok!
