Steering damper Q's

...thinking of putting a steering damper on my '00 650R...It'll either be the Scotts or GPR, whichever I can get a deal on. From searching old posts, It sounds like the GPR should be less, but when pricing on the websites, the GPR looks like $100 more.

Scotts $429

GPR v1.0 $525

GPR v2.0 $575...

Just found out the reason the GPR cost more in my above example is because the GPR price is for the 650R "kit" which includes a new top clamp. The Scotts price above assumes you already have an Applied clamp. Since I don't, that's another $150 bringing the Scotts total price very close to the price of the GPR V2.

...saving my milk money.

I like the GPR and not because that's what I have. Alot of people will say Scotts is the way to go. I think messing with two knobs while trying to navigate a BRP through the trails is nuts. GPR's do have low speed damping as well as high speed all adjustable via one "viewable" knob.

you don't adjust the high speed on the Scott's while you're riding, it requires a screwdriver :applause:

I am going to go with the scotts only because i want the oil filler tower, that way i can leave my speedo and wiring where it is behind the head light and not have to worry about it. i have ordered the oil site tube so i can watch my oil and i don't think taking the stabilizer off to change my oil will be that big a deal.

sorry so late here, been out tooling around the Barstow area for the last week, man it's cooooold out in the morning.

I used a GPR for 2 years and then tried the RTT, whata difference, it, like the Scotts, is free to center, and you may wonder what that does. It makes the arm pump not so bad, you don't have to fight it back to center, for me I noticed the difference right away, alot easier, especially in the woods or tighter stuff.

But, for the price, the GPR is probably the best bet, for the performance, probably the Scotts or the RTT.

Just my Opinion

PS. that seems like an awfully high quote for the GPR tho.

Well i'm pretty much a newbie when it come steering dampers but i love my Scotts.

First ride ever with a damper and i would not want to ride without one again.

I only have one day on the new setup, But man what a diff, Another great mod....... :applause::bonk:?

Hey guys.

As I posted earlier I have the GPR and was wondering about the scotts.

How is the free back to center in the tight woods switchbacks, s-curves and such? I have always wondered what that must be like to come out of a tight left and into a tight right.....ya know back and forth. Do the bars get harder to turn as you begin each turn (center). Sounds wierd. What happens when you hit a rock/rut while turning does it "kick" back to center.

It depends on the setting you have it on. You can adjust the "arc" that it works, too. If you can get ahold of one, read the set-up instructions for it. You can pretty much figure out how it works from there. Just sitting, I can barely feel the stabilizer working, but you can hear the fluid moving around. Going slow or goofing off in camp, I don't even notice it. It all depends on your set-up, I guess.
