Brown stick residue

Hello. My poor 650r has been in storage for a while. I was checking it out today for a ride next weekend and noticed that there is a dark brown semi-sticky residue in the intake manifold. There is also some of it in the carb throat as well, but none in the airbox.

Anyone have a idea what this is and how it got there??

It's what's left of gasoline that has set for a long time.

Get lots of carb cleaner, and go to it. If you are lucky, your jets, etc. won't be clogged with the varnish.

I'd clean the easy/obvious parts, then try it to see how well it runs. Work backwards from there if it isn't running right.

Long term storage, or even short-term if it's really hot, you should make sure carbs/tanks/etc are either Stabil'ed, or dry of fuel.
