Holy crap, Trav! I just watched your little video again for the first time since last fall. I forgot all about making the highlight reel! I laugh every time I see that. :lol: Actually, watching it in slow mo, I don't feel so bad. That guy really left me nowhere to go. :banghead:

Quiet bikes rule!

Thanks to the Stumphumpers for brining back this great event and making it happen.
I think they're on the right track w/ the sound testing.

FYI...
P.I.R. is in Portland, The track formerly known as S.I.R is now called Pacific Raceways and is reffered to simply as P.R.

PS: My bike was 89db @ the Grizzly when they checked me. I assume it was also 89db @ the Filthy Pup but nobody bothered to check.

Thats what I thought with the PIR thing, I know that Portland uses that, just could'nt remember if Pacific put "International" in there or not.

Yeah I managed 92db at Cranberry Lake, which is quiet for a Yamaha 450 that will actually run like it's supposed to...... :banghead: It would be nice if exhaust manufacturers could make it more affordable to have a quiet performance exhaust........ There has to be a lot profit made on $350.00 "Q".

Yes, but the problem we face now is getting all of the clubs to do it. Sometimes the clubs are very shortsighted when it comes to the sound tests. Personally, I would rather lose a couple entry fees now, rather than a few events due to land closures later.

Also, many of the big MX promoters are talking about sound tests at their races. Maybe our sport will save itself after all!

Never done or seen this race before, and moved just moved to the area. What would a person who usually runs either junior/rarely amateur in grand prix’s or desert races, run up here in Washington (riding a yz250F). Also what kind of top speeds are going to be attained? I have 14-46 if I need it, but don’t want to go too tall. Any Practice? What’s the inner moto track like that they run; is it do or die, or forgiving for those of us who never rode there? How much time on the track for the long course/miles per loop?

This is one of the funnest races there is. Check it out and pick a class. some of the course is paved so as fast as your bike will go :banghead: trail, grasstrack, motocross, beautiful! No practice about 6 miles per lap :banghead: and not too hard.

I really want to do this event! Since i've became ten times the rider I was a year ago. I'm trying to convince my dad to let me do it on my 85 :banghead:

Can someone explain the class structure? I would like to run an intermediate type class on a CR250 and need to know if I need to go in the morning or in the afternoon on Saturday.

I'm thinking I fit into the Sportsmen class

You can go to www.nmaoffroad.org and follow the links to the off road racing classes. The Sportsman class is for anyone that "can't fit into any other class", so essentially anyone can sign up for it, it's not always full of weekend warriors, you may get a sand bagger or two in there but don't let that stop you. If this is your first hare scrambles you are definitely entitled to ride the C class as well. depending on your age, you will be open, vet, or senior and I think those classes run in the afternoon. The problem with running the C class if you are a fairly decent rider, is that you are going to be out there with the 15 and under, (some of which will be faster than you), and it can get bottle necked in the woods.

Either way, what ever class you run, you will have a blast - GUARANTEED!

I've run hare scrambles and motox in the past. I'm 32 so I'm not sure if that puts me in Vet or not. I'm definately not A or C.

Vet is 30-39 you can pick A B or C. A class runs the long course B and C run short course.

I don't understand the problem with having a bike that is 98db or less. A well packed stock muffler should meet this number. I'm tired of seeing alot of my riding areas being shut down because of noise complaints. I know it's old but less sound does equal more ground.

Dude - Come to the event and have fun...... please don't bring the noise issue up in this forum again. We all agree, quieter is better :banghead:
