We are looking and wondering what trails to ride.. We haven't ever been there. We are all fairly good riders.. I'd say B and are always up for a challenge..
Any help would be so greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks guys!

I recommend starting from the Blue Lake staging area and heading south on 270, then head up 118 to the viewpoint, then take 118 to 276. When you get to the intersection of 276 and 272 go left towards Blue Lake. When you get to 271 take a right. Go check out Blue Lake and head back to the truck on 270. Whatever you do, don't forget your camera!! The sights are spectacular. Here's a link to the map.

Have a great ride! :ride:

Get up there quick, it's up there pretty high and the snow comes early. Be ware of the views, I almost fell off my bike the first time I went there came around a corner to see Mt Adams in my face.

There is no snow down below 5500 feet yet, but as Kevin said, its coming. This is a great webpage for info on the area. Gets regular updates!http://www.highwaysh...com/recrpt.html

You wouldnt happen to have any links to a topographical map would ya?
Looks like there is snow at 6500 Ft, and had been as low as 4500 ft.

Thanks for the great information guys!

I like the Boundary Tr #1 west from Council Lake to Dark Meadow and the north on Juniper Peak Tr #161 which gets REALLY scenic. These trails are not beat up due to less use. #1 is gentle riding through the forest with no difficulty, and #161 is easy riding with the BEST views anywhere and a few scary spots due to narrow trail above big drop offs. It also has a steep switchback downhill on the north side of Sunrise Peak.
This is the BEST.

Here are a couple of JPG files of that area from Topo USA. See if this helps at all. If you can identify a tighter area, I can zoom in for a better detailed print..

I am preparing to explore the area myself next year, so I'm interested in learning what areas or trails would be the most fun for a Trials Bike Ride.... slow, tight and technical.

If you do the loop that I mentioned, the highest point is the lookout, which I believe is 5500 feet or so. I wouldn't worry about snow this weekend. It's supposed to be 65 in the puget sound so I bet it will be in the 50's up there. Have a great ride!! :ride:

About how many miles is that loop? We were thinking we would start off at the blue lake ORV trail head near the blue lake campground.

I am still uncertain as to how far my 230 will go on one tank, I think it is around 40 miles, but I havent found out yet... Should that be more than enough to make the whole loop?

Thanks guys!!
Ill let you know how it was!!

that loop is only about 37-38 miles. Awesome loop. Rdog and myself are thinking about going up there next weekend on Saturday. I know the area fairly well. Instead of going back down to the lake and go back to the trucks, why not just take Bishop Ridge trail back, catch the valley trail and back to the truck that way too. Just a thought.

I have done that loop a few times on my 230, you don't have to worry about running out of gas.

I used to have a 230 and I could do 50+ on one tank. You'll be fine.
