Does anyone have a compression tester for their bike? I have one for my snowmobile and also works on my truck. The problem is finding an adapter that will be small enough to work on my bike. Am I going to have to buy another tester or does anyone know where I can get an adapter? I am also wondering if anyone has replaced the rings on their 650? If so at what milage and did it make difference? Thanks.

Maybe I dont hava good contribution to this thread.
But I have never changed rings in my engine, and it is a DR650SE -97 with about 46000 miles (29000km).

I have to fix a leaking cylinderfoot gasket though (classical problem) :(

Well if you have a mig welder you could take the insulator out of an old spark plug and weld it to what you have. Usually there is an automatic compression release that will have to be defeated to get a good compression reading.

Good point. I hadn't thought about that. I'll have to check the service manual and see if it shows how to do that. I like the idea of welding the spark plug end. I can do that forsure. Thanks for the info.
