What specs are you after? They should be nearly identical to the 05, and I know you can pull 05 specs off the Yamaha web site, and probably 04 specs also.

According to yamaha's website, the dry weight of an 04 is 222, 05 is 220, and 06 is 220. Can't help you with handling.

how much do the '02 426's weigh? And why the hell are the 06's not any lighter than last years? I know it takes more Aluminum than steel to make the frame, but you'd think it would be at least a few pounds lighter. Yam's press release a while back claimed it would be the lightest 450 to date.

They upped the wieght with their new triple clamp design. The forks are heavier as well. It is a give take scenario, I would give up the weight for the upgrades on the bike. 220 aint bad either for a 450cc 4 stroke. :banghead:

I own the 04' and love it, rode a friends 05' and it is nice as well. I have the stock flywheel wich makes it "04" a bit snappier. The 05 is a better bike because the power is more usable and the forks are are night and day over the 04, I had to ride the bike to beleive that they are that much better. I like my 04 enough not to get an 05, they are to much alike now the 06- that is a different bike and matter alltogether.

On the question of the weight of the '06, first, none of the numbers they post pre-release are believable. Why they don't reveal everything out front if it's better than before is a mystery, but as an example, the web site listed the '06 450 as a four speed for several weeks.

Besides, how the weight is distributed is going to matter much more than how much there is. That's where the difference will more than likely be.
