the underside of my 01 426 pipe is dented...Looks like a pretty clean dent..No noticable ding from anything..Its right in line with the rear brake caliper... Is that clearance yamaha stamped into that pipe ???
Or just a dent from bottoming the suspension..??

I have a 03 yz450f and when i bought it from a friend of mine it already had a dent in it from bottoming out because the factory muffler is sort of wide. It was a fairly large dent to. So i put a FMF Ti-4 on and never had to worry about bottoming out and damaging it again.

It is'nt a dent. Comes from the factory that way. Bought my bike new and had to check a magazine shootout to see if it was normal. Glad I did'nt phone the bike shop and freak out. Not to sure why it's built into the pipe, but it's supposed to be there.

It's there to give enough clearance for the rear brake caliper when the suspension bottoms.

I thought so. It looked too clean to be damage....
