426-450 decomp ?

I understand what everybodys talking about why they want decomp cams in their bikes and or putting 450 cams in the 426. My question is (and bare with me I havent been in this thumper deal for too long) if the 450 cams will allow you to take the decomp lever off on a 426 why do 450's have a decomp lever on them? I would never put 450 cams in my 426 but b/c of all the uncertainties but

I think the lever you are seeing it the hot start lever that is now up on the handlebars. The auto decompresion is very well worth it. I love my 03' it feels like a 125 when you are kicking it over.

The lever on the 450 is the hot start, not a decomp. Read the thread at the top of the forum, thousands of us have done the 450 cam mod to our 426's and I've yet to hear of one failure.

also hotcams makes a decomp exhuast cam that lines up correctly with the stock timing.

So the lever I am seeing on the new 450's is the same thing as the red pull-out on my carb?

Just put the 03 450 cam in your 426 its the nuts.Its easyer to start, and wont stall as easy.Well worth it.Like a different bike.

i completely agree..and yah, the lever you see isnt a decomp lever its a hot start lever
