Hi matty .I have gone off the Dunlop 606 rear tyres . First one did 600km bald, the one on now did 460km knobs are coming off, not good one ride and i need a new tyre . I might try Mitch desert next. Are you riding on sand or stone tracks?.

I am very surprised you can wear out 606 tire out in 600kms and loose knobs!

Wow! the knobs are huge on that tire! I almost don't believe you!

Where I ride is gravel road mostly, but rocky / muddy / sandy / hard pack clay every where. There is a stint of about 15kms of bitumen we have to ride, that is always 100km/h+.

I just changed my rear tire to a brand new dunlop 952 for the weekend, after 200kms, it has just slightly rounded the edges off. This is my second 952 on my bike, I won't use anything else. Awesome grip everywhere (something that the 606 misses out on).

Do you specifically need a DOT tire? If not, you might want to give the 952's a go. I am just concerned about you wearing out 606's so quickly.

I am using the new Pirelli Scorpion Pro's front and rear and like them a lot, a very good street tire but very aggresive for the dirt which is where I spend most of my time. I paid only $5-10 over what you would pay for dirt tires for them and they are DOT rated.

I would second the Pirellis... A very good tire, DOT and FIM approved. I may get the Pirelli MT32F front next time. All Pirelli front offroad/MX tires are DOT approved, and the MT32F looks a little more aggressive for the crappy Indiana mud.

The back Scropion Pro is awesome though.

Off topic question...

Pops, I love the cockpit, I have the same setup, (scotts, triple clamp, pro tapers, etc...) But I have the trail tech enduro computer instead of what you have.

My question is the switch. Did your bike come standard with that? My 05 450 has the stupid on/off led, which I hate.

Is that switch standard on older wr's? what year is yours.

thanks.

Thanks mauricedorris. Yes the on- off key swich came on the 04 standard in OZ. Not sure in the USA. The reason i got a Acewell instead of the trail tech enduro computer Was i needed to know the temp as we ride in hot weather up to 51deg. ? I think that is about 120 deg.You can set the temp to flash on the screen when it is overheating .Got to know when to back off a bit ( brain goes a bit dull in that temp .lol(Also it is backlit for night rides.)
