BK Mod ?

Recommended Posts

Thanx for the link-vmax

After reading the write up, I'm assuming this mod is not applicable to my WR which is an '04?

Anyone?

I'm getting real close, just a hint of a stumble when I twist it swiftly. Installed the NCVQ (YZ) needle this evening, and it cleaned up alot. Need to get out and give it the SOTP test. :banghead:

the BK mod rules! be very carfull in your set up also in your selection of fasteners. You will need to rejet after the mod since you just took away all that fuel. Done correctly you bike will respond much quicker and cleaner. Use VMAX's link Good luck using a stopwatch under a 1/2 second anything under 1/2 second should be good

So can this mod be used with the 04 WR?

Scroll to the bottom of this page (http://www.thumperfaq.com/ap_mods.htm) for info on BK mod on 2003+ models. Initially, I thought that the BK mod didn't apply to 2003+ models, but according to this info, it does; however, I don't hear of many people doing it on 2003+ models. It seems that you can get AP duration/squirt as good as it needs to be with leak jet changes and AP timing adjustments (for more info on AP tuning: http://www.thumperfaq.com/ap.htm). Some also add an aftermarket AP cover.

OK, perfect. The last link you provided explains it all-Thanks. I remember doing a diaphragm (spl) mod to my YFZ in the early tuning stages. After I got the quad dialed I guess I rode myself silly since I forgot about that.? Since the WR sports the same carb, I'll get it perfect or else........ :banghead:

So maestro,? maybe you can lead me to a thread regarding that nasty mess of hoses on my '04. If they are only part of the CA emission legal B/S-then they need to go. If you could, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again :applause:

I think you want the AIS removal kit, it can be found here on TT. Hope this helps.

My '04 doesn't have the AIS-hence the fawkin red sticker I have to tolerate.:banghead:

All the hoses, I'm refferring to-are what is reffered to here at TT as the "octopus" ? I believe.

I'm learning. Would be nice to get rid of all those clear hoses-what a PITA they are to deal with when working on jetting. :applause:

I believe the term "octopus" generally refers to the AIS, not the carb hoses, but you are right, there are a lot of hoses on the FCR carbs. Don't remember reading about eliminating some of the houses, only routing them differently. Some route the top vent hoses to the airbox as a waterproofing measure, in addition to the breather vent.

I think you can consolidate some of the hoses using some plastic Y-shaped tubing connectors, but I haven't read a thread about this yet.
