I was quoted 5700.00 o.t.d. for a new xr 650.
Is that too much for a new leftover........??

Hi i am in Australia and just bought one today. I paid $10200.00 with 6 months rego out the door. Considering the asking price was $11990.00 there was a bit of room to move on this bike. I maybe could have pushed for slightly less but we also bought an XT 250 which we also had reduced and a couple of helmets thrown in. I am interested to see other Aussie prices for the XR650r.

Ouch..My Goat Ass !!!

ok, they are made in Japan, not the USA
so why when they ship to Aus' would they be twice as much as N. America? Its closer no?

Is it country taxes? It really seems bullshit to pay twice as much! :applause:

I bought my 03 in April of that year and got it for $4,799 out the door from lacyclesports.com. If you are willing to drive out to the Los Angeles area, I'd check them out. Great service on top of great prices. :banghead:

You have to remember that the Oz price includes a road ready "Dual Sport" bike as you guys call it with a reg no and all, the dealer usually uncorks it and you just get on a and ride. To make a fair comparison you would have to do the same for the US model.

Having said that we always pay more for stuff here, it's all relative and you have to take in average wages and costs of living to make a meaningful comparison.

Yes I do agree with that. Canada is much the same this way.

I had trouble finding a dealer that would even have one without having to order it or find one from their dealer network. This was before new models arrived, they just wouldn't get one unless someone wanted one. Sure did push the 450x in it's place though. I wish I could have bought a new leftover. :applause: There are used ones with next to no use so that's the route I took. :banghead:
