WR400 stator rewind + dualsport kit

Recommended Posts

Anyone done a rewind on a 98-99 WR400 stator themselves? Id like to get a little more power out of the stock unit without having to send it out. I do have access to some magnet wire and all of the stuff Id need, just not sure how much extra I can get out of this. With something like an XR650R its obvious since youve got empty poles to wind on, but this one is full.

Id also heard something about a '00 stator being around 120watts stock (?) and I wonder if its a direct bolt-on.

This is the same WR I posted about a couple months ago with a bad crank and junk head. Its all repaired and running and the clacking noise was found to be a worn clutch basket (it sounded like piston / rod damage). Cost me ~450 in labor to do all the work and the parts were around 900 total. I re-routed the breather hose and put a filter pod on it, and Im looking into filter skins for the thing also to keep the dust out.

Ive got an electrex DS kit on this bike and its pretty nice, being able to disconnect everything for offroad.

Anyone know where to get compact LED blinkers and taillights?

Anyone know if the 426 stators will bolt on to the 400 engines? I just picked up a 2000 WR engine, but for some reason it has the YZ stator on it (yes it's a WR... five speed tranny). :excuseme:

The 98-02 YZ400/426F all had 5-speed trannys. Maybe the motor was out of a YZ since your saying it has a YZ stator.
