Tired after eating sugar?

Recommended Posts

For the past few months I've been noticing that after I eat "junk food with sugar" that I tend to get really really sleepy. Almost to the point that I need a nap. I don't think this is normal because it's never really happened to me before. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? :D Does this sound like diabetes? :D I'm not sure what it could be but if this seems abnormal I know I should probably get to my doctor or lay off the sweets for a while to see if it goes away.

I use to have hypoglycemia when I was between 17-22, (I don't know if your body ever gets rid of it) but I believe that was because I dieting pretty hard and would get light-headed and feel like I was going to pass out. On some occassions I even did drop right to the floor. Doc told me to always carry around some small sweets, like jolly ranchers or life savers...guess I took that too far. LOL

I would guess, according to your personal data it's your age. You might want to start thinking about a wheel chair career. :D LOL

At 93 years old you must be in pretty good shape. I would say low blood sugar is your least problem. LOL

LOL LOL!!! And NO, I'm not 93!! That is the date the Titanic sank. I'm fascinated with the Titanic and that is why I used it. I'm only 24.

Try supplementing with chromium piccolinate !!!!!!!!! A deficiency in chromium can cause the pancreas to function erratically and overproduce insulin in response to a rise in blood sugar or even an adrenalin rush from caffeine (adrenergic hypoglycemia) . What happens is that too much insulin pushes all the sugar out of your blood stream leaving you feeling weak , shaky and nervy as well and you can pass out because your brain gets starved of glycogen ! Zinc is another important mineral that the pancreas relies on and if you're eating too much sugar , it can also cause a vitamin B deficency which mimics hypoglycemia ! Try eating fruit and complex carbohydrates like rice and potatoes ! Chromium stabilises blood sugar so that it is neither high nor low ! I used to suffer from hypoglycemia but it's gone now as long as I follow good nutrition !

Should I check my blood sugar level by buying one of those testers that you can find at any pharmacy or am I wasting my time and money with one of those? Someone at my work says that it sounds like the beginning stages of Diabetes. I also have blurred vision at times and even if I sleep more than 8 hours, I'm still tired. It's weird, but now I'm a bit concerned.

or just take a diabetic friend out to dinner and have them test your blood sugar.

Mine was done against my will.

It was only 93.

So my light headedness is DEFINITELY NOT from high blood sugar.

If you've had a problem with hypoglycemia in the past you probably still do.

You could also, like me, have an intolerance to corn and it's sweet friend, corn syrup.

I'll bet it's the junk food and everything else is normal.

Junk food will make you wacky. Ever heard of the "Twinkie Defense"?

I'm in good health, get a physical every year, and the same junk food "crash" happens to me too, especially if it's in the afternoon and on an empty stomach. If I'm sitting in the recliner, it's instant snooze time. :D

The same thing happened to me about three years ago...found out that Im type 2 diabetic....GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!

lucky!! the doctors told me i was type 2...they made a big mistake cuz u can only about a year without insulin...so a year later i almost died from ketoacitocin or however u spell it.....stupid doctors, i am actually type 1...

oh as for the test strips they can be very expensive if u dont have a perscription...about 90$ a box...go to the doctors and see whats up, thats the best thing...change ur eating habit too...carry some candy with u for emergency
