3000 too much for 99 wr 400??

Recommended Posts

found a 99 wr 400 at a dealer, they said they want 3000 for it, seems a bit steep for a old bike. What should I try to get them down to, what shouldn't I go past?

Also, I'm 6 foot at 255, will this bike get my big a$$ everywhere I want it to go, and still keep up with the newer bikes. I know there's better bikes out there newer and what not, but this is in my price range. thanks

It also depends on how many extras have been added. Add them all up (exhaust, steering stab, hand guards etc) divide by 2 and take that into consideration.

Not sure about the 400 but if the power is anything like the 426 it has plenty of power for 255 lb rider. Over all I have heard nothing but good things about the 400s and 426s. :D

I've got 1 in excellent condition. Free Mods, New Rubber, the usual protection, YZ seat/tank combo, etc. That I'm about to sell for $2200. So, yeah, $3000 is a little steep. But, I understand that they can be plated in CA, so that does make a difference.

Oh, the 400's still rip. My guess is, unless you expect to race MX with it, you'll never push it to it's limit. It's always been way faster than me.

Where are you in California? I'll sell you my WR400 (most modified bike on TT) for $2500. It has no problems, I just need to get rid of it by this weekend. $3000 is too much for any WR400 with less than $3000 worth of modifications done to it. PM me if you are interested, My bike is in the TT classifieds.

I agree that $3000 seems a bit steep for that model. I purchased that same bike 2 years ago from a dealer and paid $3000 for it then but it had quite a few mods on it. As far as the power it has enough. i am 6'3" 245 lbs. I also ride a 04 YZ450 and i actually enjoy riding the 400 for leisure as it won't work me over as bad. The 400 has been a great bike.

I have recently thought about selling my 400 which has the following: All new plastic, new graphics, Talon Hubs, Excel rims, FMF Q series muffler, Magura Hydraulic clutch, Acerbis hand guards, new rear maxxis, new front dunlop, heavy duty tubes, 3.2 gallon gas tank, Trail Tech speedo, pro taper bars, applied upper and lower clamps, works conection radiator braces, frame guards, full skid plate, rear disc guard, front disc guard, uni air filter, new SDG seat, extra set of black yellow plastics, recent carb overhaul and valve adjustment. the lights have been removed but all the connections are connection ready.
