Guys,

I have a 2000 XR 650R, and have it plated in Illinois. I ride it to work some, and hard off road for a day a few times a year I have yet to replace the clutch bushing, and the countershaft seal. I bought it used with about 100 miles on it, and have had zero problems with it. (I uncorked it.) Do I need to do these two mods???

Yes.

The seal is very easy. The bushing takes a little effort. I replaced mine (2001 model) around the 800 mile mark. There was a thin ring being worn into the bushing from excessive wear. This was an early sign of a problem that would lead to a seizure. I am glad that I took heed.
