Urgent: Need fork help

Hey i am putting my forks back together after replacing the seals. The outer shim does not seem to want to drive down in the fork tube. Do I drive it in with the seal or should it go in freely???

Nevermind I got it ...sorry for the tr=hread

patience is key here....sounds like you took them completely apart. How did the old fluid look and how much sludge was at the bottom /comp valve?

I broke them apart except for the damper system. I flushed it with new fluid them removed it. Once settled there was a good bit of metal and sludgey stuff..

That is the stuff that settles at the bottom where the comp valve is..
