Evil dealers, cycletrader, and 06 450s

Recommended Posts

My dealer says he will be getting his first 2 in November! Yamaha has really shot themselves in the foot with the late release! Honda's are out, & RMZ's are soon to follow. I can't imagine why (unless they are still testing) why they wouldn't have built the four strokes first and done the two strokes later. It is going to cost them sales wise big time. The next couple months it's crucial to get the bikes in the magazines and on the track! November is too late. The only upside is that they may more willing to deal come spring time.

I have deposits on both the 250F & 450F, and my '04 CRF is sold next week. Not being able to potentially ride until mid-Oct is bumming me out!

You are absolutely right. I couldn't wait, so I bought an 06CRF450 for $5900.68 OTD. I love yami, but I have to admit, it's pretty freakin awesome. I can only hope that it is as reliable. :D

The 06 F's are brand new models, and they are far from the only thing Yamaha makes. In fact, motorcycles, or anything else with engines in them, are far from the only thing Yamaha makes. If you remember, these bike were not to have been released until '07 at one point, so they have been moved ahead some 300 days as it is. The reason for the delay is so that they have time to build up an inventory large enough to maintain some kind of acceptable delivery rate.

Lighten up just a little. :D

Its funny how guys are getting all worked up over the release dates on the 06's. They will get here when they get here, for now just ride. The dealers/cycletrader ect. like to presale because they are in the business of selling bikes- it is nice to have a guranteed sale before the product arrives, I do not blame them. Just be patient guys. :D

Did you see that fly over your head, Jetsprint?

That was the humor you missed in my post...i guess the smilies i chose didn't give enough of a hint to that. :D:D

Get over it! I did not aim my post directly at you as you did at me. I read your lines and I did not see any humor in it. Oh yah, that was me flying over your head on the track. :D

I'm not saying that the dealers are evil. I'm saying that Yamaha may really be missing the boat saleswise when it comes to the 450F. I understand that it's an all-new model, but from a marketing perspective "you need to strike while the iron's hot!" W/the class leader already on the track and in the mag's soon, their sales are not going to be where they could be. If the bike was availble by September, I guarantee that they would sell more! God -forbid that when they get released, the magazines don't rate them well.

Don't get me too wrong. I was a life long Yamaha guy until '04 when I bought the CRF. (Just didn't like the YZ450F handling) And I'm as pumped as anyone w/the 2006 YZF & looking forward to being back on Blue/Yellow. It's the bike they should have come out w/3 years ago. I'm also being selfish b/c I'll be w/out a bike in a week or two and the fall is the best riding around here.

:D

No, I don't fight unless I have to, I just race- What do you expect when you call someone out in a post. I meant nothing by it. Had to reply and stand up for myself- just my nature. No worries man the weekend should be good I am racing. I'm out.

Hah, they havn't shot themselves in the foot yet. There letting everyone go grab a new 06 CRF that you have to shim after 10 hours of riding, JEEZ! So after they get tired of that business, they'll hop right on over to yamaha. :D

I'm a lifelong Yamaha guy, except for the '04 CRF which I bought after not being able to come to grips w/the YZ450F. (loved the motor, just didn't care for the way it handled) No one was more pumped than me to see the info on the 2006. I really think that it will be great bike. However, the late release is puzzling from a marketing standpoint. With the CRF already out and the RMZ not far behind, a November release (for the first 1 or 2 a dealer gets) is foolish. Also, I'm a little selfish in that I've sold my CRF and don't want to miss out on the choice fall riding around here!

Lastly, in all fairness to Honda, I never had a valve issue w/my '04 CRF. I have over 60 hours on the bike and the valves are still w/in spec. I'm very anal about oil/filter changes & never rode it w/out a clean Twin Air. The valve issues I've seen around here are mostly related to lazy maintenance schedules. The design of the Honda mandates heavier maint!
