Zip-Ty Racing....Upset Customer!!!!!

Recommended Posts

To all you folks that were thinking about ordering the YZ Blue Zip-Ty magnetic drain plug, don't do it!!!! They don't manufacture it in Blue anymore. Only RED! Which doesn't look good on my blue bike.

I ordered the YZ blue magnetic drain plug (as advertised on both the website and catalog - page 4) from their website last week. In the mail, I got the red one. After speaking with Kathy at Zip-Ty this a.m., she informed me that they discontinued the blue ones. Zip-Ty is not prepared to meet the customer's needs for blue drain plugs and only offered to take it back and return the money, which stinks!!!!!!!! :D

Wow! That's kind of a strong reaction. I've had the red plug since I got my '05, along with the red hot start nut. The benefits of the plug are far more important than the color. Besides, you can't even see it unless you're spending most of your time with the rubber side up. Then again, I have red graphics on my tank and shrouds, so I'm color coordinated anyway...SC

To me it don't matter what color it is cause its on the bottom of the bike.

To be honest, it's not that upsetting.....just the fact that they adverstize in both their catalog and on the website. I suppose it's the principle of the whole matter. Unprofessional, in my opinion......

Well, it may have been discontinued and the mailings/catalog not updated. They did offer to give you all your money back. Its all that one can expect. I'd think it would be easier to find your drain plug if its red, kinda stands out. But normal riding, one would never see it.

I'll trade you my blue one for your red one plus $40.... :D

You've got a deal! LOL

Ok, I'll let it go......once again, I'm surprised you folks take these types of things so lightly. I expect a lot from companies, but I guess I need to lower my expectations and should feel grateful that I even got the part from them at all......

We're just teasing you a bit :D Dang that blue bolt looks GOOD on my bike! :D

Seriously though, I would be a bit miffed if they sent me a part I didn't want. At the very least, an email or phone call stating a problem with your order would have been nice. :D

Hey man, I think it is totally :D ignorant that they only anodize in red too. I mean , if your only gonna do one color why not do silver or black or something that goes with every bike :D . No, I dont think it will make the bike perform any better or worse, but I dont see guys putting pink handguards on their bikes either  , so color DOES matter to some degree. If color doesnt matter, just leave them aluminum color. ? I know I have been trying to get a blue drain plug for months, I am not spending 20 bucks on a RED bolt thats worth 58 cents, no way  . So it looks like Zip Ty will not be getting any of my fun tokens :D For your info, Yamaha offers a silver magnetic drain plug thru the GYT-R brand. I am getting that one :D I am no Honda owner, so I will save the red parts for them :eek::D:D . Rant over, Flame suit on. :D

The only bummer is you thought you were getting a blue one. I can see your point, you never would have bought it if you knew it only came in red. Red is his color now.. They should at least make a note on the web page that they only come in red. Still, not a big deal to me but I can see your point.. :D

I think the same. They should have mention it. But at least, Kathy offered your cash back... since then, it's no big deal. You're right though that it is frustrating when you're hoping for your part to come and don't get it right... :D

Let me see If I got this right. You bought a bolt in which the true benefit is to make you engine last longer. That hides under your bash plate on the bottom of the engine. It came in red instead of blue, you got so upset you wrote a post entitled "Zip Ty Racing ... Upset Customer", you got/or where offered your $ back.

What ever you do dont order an aftermarket tank. The blue is not exactly Yamaha blue and might upset you

Heck, I'm not even anal. I just expect to get what I order. If I'd ordered a red plug, I'd expect a red one. However, I didn't order red. I ordered blue. It's simply my standard for measuring quality.

Some of my work is in education (preschool children). Should I lower my expectations I have of students. If I instruct preschoolers to color the sky blue, should I accept and praise students that color it red? Or, should I kindly remind them of my instructions and have them re-do it?

That's all I wanted to acheive....kindly remind the good folks at Zip-Ty Racing that they advertised blue, I ordered blue, I paid for blue, as the customer I anticipated getting blue, and, instead, got red. I don't know about you, but my standards just aren't that low.

No doubt, the product itself is great. No doubt, color really doesn't matter much. In the grander scope of things, I really don't care. But, part of me still feels my standards have been compromised.

I'll quit bellyaching about it now........

my brake line bracket is red anodized,so is the axle blocks and axle spacers, my drain plug is red also. i think the red compliments the blue nicely, mix red with blue and you get purple;the color of royalty :D

If your son comes home late one night with lipstick on, wearing a purple outfit he picked up at the fashion store in the mall, you won't be thinking it looks "royal."
