HP somewhere in the 105 mph range with a top speed of 43-46 hp properly set up.

If you do the power band mod, we're probably talking about 55-60 hp. :D

reading everbodys posts the hp numbers change considerably. where are you measuring the hp and on what machine? cos the 04 450 is claimed by yamaha to make 50 horses but its at the CRANK not the treads

OK, My friends 400 with a good pipe and properly sorted engine (no mods) made 47 on a dyno that is known to show a little high, so we could say 45 real world, at the wheel.

My 03 450 with an Akro full system on it but otherwise stock showed 49 at the wheel on a dyno that is regarded as very accurate.

Without getting into the finer points of how dynos can read differently on different days due to ambient weather conditions and so on, let me just say that my friend is a big lad and that 400 carried him along just fine. He is one of the fastest riders I've met. On the other hand, I am an average rider at best and I honestly couldn't say I use all of the 450's available power.... :D

The best advice I was ever given was to forget chasing numbers and spend some money on suspension, tyres and track time. I make that person right. :D

you mean FATTEST. :D

My WR has far more grunt than i'll ever need for dirt use. It made 50 rwhp in 30 deg (86) heat. i can't expect to use all of that.

Well hello monkeyboy, fancy bumping into you...

I wouldn't go so far as to call him fat, that's a little too kettle and pot for me, lets's just say he's sturdily built :D :D
